With Sirona's popular detection system, dentists can detect caries reliably, quickly, and easily during excavation. The new attachable filter for the probe is a practical alternative to diagnostic glasses and makes caries detection easier.
Sirona has a new attachable filter for the SiroInspect caries detection system to present at the IDS. Using this filter, dentistscan detect carious regions through a red fluorescence light, which reliably, quickly, and easily illuminates the cavity during excavation. The new attachable filter is a practical alternative to diagnostic glasses.
The attachable filter is easy to fit and align on the narrow probe with a silicone ring. It is made of high-grade plastic and filters out light with wavelengths below 500 nm. Just as with the diagnostic glasses, light with higher wavelengths remains visible when the tooth is exposed to violet light in the range of approx. 405 nm. This makes it suitable for caries detection using SIROInspect, based on "fluorescence-aided caries excavation", or FACE® technology that utilizes the fluorescence properties of teeth. Healthy tooth tissue is distinguished by green fluorescence, whereas red fluorescence is emitted by porphyrins that are produced by caries bacteria in decaying hard tooth substance.
The advantage of FACE® technology, which has been accepted by users after just a few months and is in high demand, is that the dentist can see which areas are carious and which are not during excavation with a much greater degree of certainty than with detector dyes, for example. SIROInspect allows dentists to be minimally invasive and patient friendly. The probe is easy to use and can be quickly integrated into the treatment process.
The new attachable filter is a viable caries- detection option in addition to diagnostic glasses. Dentists who use magnifying glasses no longer need to do without them but can view the cavity directly through the attachable filter. After treatment, the attachable filter is just as easy to detach for cleaning and disinfection as it is to attach.
