Delivering innovations and solutions around proven, documented, world-class dental implant systems

With innovation and science at its core, Dentsply Sirona Implants continues to deliver new solutions in implant dentistry. The solutions are developed around the well-documented and clinically proven implant systems'Astra Tech Implant System, Ankylos and Xive'that provide long-term functional and esthetic solutions for many clinical situations and patients worldwide.

With a comprehensive product and solutions portfolio for all phases of implant dentistry, Dentsply Sirona Implants continually strives to improve ease of use and versatility, without compromising safety and efficacy, in order to increase the application of implant therapy.

?We know that clinicians meet patients with different clinical indications, for example single tooth loss, osteoporosis, or lack of bone for successful implant treatment, every day. With our solutions, clinicians are able to solve these various challenges and, as a result, they can deliver long-term function and esthetics to their patients,? says Björn Delin, DDS and Vice President Clinical & Scientific Affairs at Dentsply Sirona Implants.

New clinical data on short implants
Short implants is a solution for patients with limited bone that are unwilling or unable to undergo bone grafting. In a recently published study* lead by Professor Hämmerle from the University of Zürich, a randomized clinical multicenter study compared the use of short 6 mm OsseoSpeed implants (Astra Tech Implant System) with 11-15 mm implants and grafting.

In the study, they show important benefits when using OsseoSpeed short implants: a simplified surgical procedure (no need for grafting), reduced surgical time (with 30%) and reduced surgical cost (with 50%), and higher patient satisfaction (due to less pain and less complications, as well as cheaper treatment).

OsseoSpeed Profile EV implant
Marginal bone preservation is an important factor to achieve excellent esthetic results. However, it is a clinical reality that crestal bone resorbs after tooth extraction or tooth loss. This resorption is often more pronounced on the buccal side, resulting in a lingual-to-buccal sloped ridge.

The OsseoSpeed Profile EV implant is placed level with both buccal and lingual marginal bone, where the design supports the soft tissue by preserving marginal bone 360 degrees around the implant. In addition, it may reduce the need for bone augmentation.

Latest clinical results on osteoporotic patients
Recently published results of a 5-year study** on OsseoSpeed implants (Astra Tech Implant System) concludes that female osteoporosis patients can be treated with dental implants and the clinical outcome is expected to be as good as for non-osteoporotic women.

Recent data indicates that patients with osteoporosis show similarly good results to a control group without osteoporosis. Dental implants with the flouride-modified, nano-structured OsseoSpeed surface were evaluated after up to 5 years and the patients in the osteoporotic group showed similarly good bone and soft tissue response to the healthy control group. In both groups, the mean marginal bone loss was only 0.09 mm overall. The patients in this study were diagnosed with osteoporosis but had not yet received medication against bone resorption (i.e. bisphosphonates).

Symbios Algipore'proven reliability and effectiveness
Algipore originates from calcifying red algae. It is natural bone like, biocompatible, osteoconductive, and stable during bone formation. It has a unique pore structure that promotes new bone formation for the best possible outcomes in implant treatment preparation.

A plant-based bone graft material, Algipore is a natural first choice for patients who would like to avoid xenografts and allografts. With 30 years of scientific documentation and clinical use, predictable treatment outcomes has been established for indications such as sinus grafting, augmentation in the atrophic maxilla, and filling material at periimplantitis lesions.

Symbios Biphasic Bone Graft Material
Symbios Biphasic Bone Graft Material is a bone graft material sourced from nature. This granule based bone graft material is derived from red marine algae. The composition has been specially formulated to turn-over rapidly as new bone forms within the graft site. Symbios Biphasic BGM has a composition of 20% hydroxyapatite (HA) for space maintenance and slow resorption and 80% Beta-tricalcium phosphate (?-TCP) for faster resorption. Symbios Biphasic BGM is considered a close equivalent to Symbios Algipore.

The Symbios line of products offers a variety of regenerative solutions needed to create a solid base for hard and soft tissue growth, creating synergy between natural-looking esthetics and long-term function.

New innovations for single-tooth replacement
In addition, Azento and Acuris, two new innovations from Dentsply Sirona Implants now available in Europe, help implant dentistry professionals with one of their most common indications'single tooth replacement.

Azento is the latest digital implant workflow solution from Dentsply Sirona Implants that streamlines the implant planning, purchasing and delivery of products for single tooth replacement. For the clinician, this custom implant solution increases convenience, seamlessly and efficiently connects with qualified laboratories, and enables consistent, excellent results for patients.

Acuris is based on a conometric concept that uses friction instead of a screw or cement to secure the crown and the cap to the abutment in the final prosthetic part of the implant treatment. Acuris saves time, improves predictability and ensures high-quality end results in the clinic, while improving the workflow in the lab. With Acuris, placing the final crown takes seconds rather than minutes'you only need to click once to place the crown with the unique Fixation Tool. Additional benefits include reduced risk of complications and easier maintenance.
