Dentsply Sirona can now offer a wide variety of materials for CEREC restorations thanks to close partnerships with several other companies. With the new CEREC software release, it is now possible to process other materials- in addition to CEREC Zirconia and CELTRA Duo- in the innovative CEREC SpeedFire. Approval was granted for IPS e.max CAD from Ivoclar Vivadent and Suprinity PC from VITA Zahnfabrik.
Dentsply Sirona, Ivoclar Vivadent and VITA Zahnfabrik started a new chapter in their partnership in the field of CAD/CAM materials. With the introduction of the CEREC software 4.4.4, it is now possible to fire a high-performance lithium disilicate glass ceramic in the form of IPS e.max CAD and an innovative zirconium-reinforced lithium silicate glass ceramic, Suprinity PC, for chairside treatments in the new CEREC SpeedFire sintering and firing furnace from Dentsply Sirona. This collaboration between the participating companies’ research and development teams resulted in the modification and optimization of processing in the furnace and software. IPS e.max CAD lithium disilicate restorations can now be crystallized and glazed in one 24-minute cycle. The process times and firing parameters are restoration-dependent and can vary. For each restoration, there will be an automatical job transmission to the CEREC SpeedFire furnace.
The CEREC SpeedFire has the world's shortest sintering cycles for zirconia and is now the only sintering furnace that processes glass ceramics as well. "CEREC SpeedFire is the most flexible oven on the market,? said Group Vice President CAD/CAM at Dentsply Sirona, Roddy MacLeod. ?Not only can we deliver full-contour zirconia restorations in a single patient visit, but we can also offer highly esthetic glass ceramics like IPS e.max CAD and Suprinity PC. This means that for nearly every clinical situation our customers find themselves in, they can offer their patient the right material while they wait.?
Harmonized workflows
IPS Object Fix Putty and Flow firing paste are to be used exclusively in combination with Dentsply Sirona glaze support for crystallization and glaze firings of IPS e.max CAD. For glazing or staining restorations, IPS e.max CAD Crystall./Shades, Stains and IPS e.max CAD Crystall./Glaze Spray or Paste can be applied to the blue restoration. In multi-job processing, a maximum of two restorations are fired.
The use of Dentsply Sirona glaze supports and CEREC SpeedPaste was approved for crystallization of VITA Suprinity PC. For glazing, however, the VITA AKZENT Plus GLAZE LT SPRAY must be used. A maximum of three restorations in multi-job processing is possible for VITA Suprinity PC.
Trusted materials for CEREC restorations
These two high-strength glass ceramics have formed part of the CEREC material spectrum for some time now and have proven their worth in chairside treatments. They fulfill the highest esthetic demands and are also extremely user friendly. The CEREC software offers individual programs for crystallizing and glazing ceramics. Dentsply Sirona glaze supports, which are included in the CEREC SpeedFire’s scope of supply, are required for secure positioning.
