Oticon Opn hearing aid family is expanding to include custom hearing aids
Tuesday, September 18, 2018Description :

Oticon has packed its 360° Open Sound Experience into a new range of discreet custom styles including its smallest hearing aid to date. The full suite of in-the-ear styles, ranging from invisible up to fully featured customs, complement the existing behind-the-ear styles to expand the Oticon Opn™ hearing aid family.

Thanks to Oticon’s dedication to progressive design improvement, eight of ten users with mild to moderately severe hearing loss will now be able to enjoy the invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aid. Without compromising quality, reliability or performance, Oticon has miniaturised the high-quality components behind their BrainHearing™ technologies and integrated them into their smallest hearing aid ever. The Oticon Opn™ IIC solution, comes with two speaker options to cover a wider range of hearing loss, enabling even more users to wear an invisible[i] Oticon Opn™ hearing aid.

With an updated version of Oticon Opn’s Velox™ platform, to deliver the unique requirements of custom instruments, the new discreet styles include ultra-high processing performance fast and precise enough to support the brain in making sense of sound. They are the first in-the-ear hearing aids with Oticon’s unique OpenSound Navigator™, enabling users to enjoy access to the 360° open sound experience that Oticon Opn™ hearing aids are renowned for, and not being restricted by traditional directionality technology, they provide a more natural listening experience even in complex and noisy environments.

The comprehensive range of custom hearing aids also includes fully-featured styles combining both discretion and functionality and, for those with reduced dexterity, are easier to handle, control and adjust. These slightly larger in-the-ear hearing aid styles in the new range are rich with Oticon Opn™ technology innovations, including 2.4 GHz low energy Bluetooth® connectivity, so that users can pair with Oticon’s all-in-one microphone and speaker accessory, ConnectClip.

By introducing in-the-ear hearing aids to the Oticon Opn™ family, we hope to help the hearing care professionals encourage more patients that have qualms about wearing a hearing aid, to take the first steps towards tackling their hearing loss, says Ole Asboe Jørgensen, President, Oticon Brand, Global. We are really excited to offer such a wide variety of styles, functionalities and features for people to choose from. The hearing care professionals will meet more diverse needs and preferences, while reluctant users will be given more choice about their hearing aid style.

The development of new custom style hearing aids is yet another way that Oticon endeavors to help people with hearing loss overcome barriers to social participation. Offering discreet solutions, in addition to reducing listening effort in environments that have previously been too demanding, enables people with hearing loss to be confidently socially active and enjoy an active life.

Oticon Opn™ in-the-ear hearing aids will be made available globally during 2018.
